Colored Commission for of Tyra and some more fun/mischievous bad-guys.
TYRA - "This could be a problem..."
Some more amazingly-fun commission work for Marie and Fred and their wonderful character Tyra, from "La Quête de l'Aube" I had a great time getting to draw this awesome character, as well as adding in some of my own over-the-top mischievous OCs.
Can't give enough credit/praise to Vest on this piece. He really outdid himself on this one with the water/light refractions creating a ton of movement at the bottom, the beautiful cave rock, and the insanely cool skin tones with all the wonderful shiny/oil effects. Not to mention the like 30 some-odd layers of lighting/glare effects on top of everything else.
For the color scheme on this one, there aren't a lot of comics or comic-style art references that have good looking underwater caves or even decent looking water effects.(kinda sucks- almost all the decent colors refs for this kind of look exist only in concept-art, real photos, and a few Image books from the 90's. This industry really needs to invest in some better colorists.) Again, I can't give enough credit/praise to Vest and his amazing abilities.
This one as well was just supposed to be a simple single character shot but I had been sick in bed and hadn't been able to work on anything for bit, so when I was able to have a go at it, I kind of went over the top with adding/creating some fun /mischievous OCs:
- Akemi the Succubus, the 2 demons (Bonesy McGee & Mr. Creeper) and Jeff, a giant/surprisingly dexterous squid.
Still all just goofy and playful. Hadn't really considered/intended it at the time, but I guess this one did turn out a bit "ecchi". Good times though.
Let me know if you guys want a part 2 of this one.
Enjoy!
