Journal Entry: Tue Nov 6, 2012, 3:07 PM

Thanks soooo much for all the cool Birthday wishes!:iconxd--plz:
Had some crappy computer issues with my new system that kept me away for the last week and half , so signing back into DA today and seeing all of those B-Day salutations was really fun!!

Have several new colored pieces I've been sitting on for the last 2 weeks, and am super glad to finally be able to share/post them now.:boogie:

Thanks again you guys!

Best,

Comikaze!!!

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 17, 2012, 10:55 AM

I had a last minute Artist-Ally spot pop up at Stan Lee's Comikaze in LA this weekend. Great convention with a ton of really cool people. A lot of which I'll be working/collaborating with in the near future. So good times all around.:boogie:

Thanks to all who stopped by to talk, look over prints, and to the considerable amount of people who bought stuff. I actually ended up selling out of 3 different prints which was a first.:w00t:

Best,

Hey guys, back and healthy again.

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 12, 2012, 11:00 AM

I'm back, alive, super happy, grateful and energized. Had some major health issues that took me out of commission for little while and just kind of had to put everything on hold temporarily. Thankfully things are getting back to normal once again.

I'm really looking forward to being back on DA on a regular basis and getting share, discover and talk about new fun art with you guys.

Talk with ya soon.

MONSTERS MAIDENS & MAYHEM Cover Digitally Painted [link] with lines by me and Digital Paints by the Amazing Hector Sevilla Lujan, AKA elsevilla on DeviantART. [link]

Got back the final digitally painted version of the cover for my MONSTERS MAIDENS & MAYHEM sketchbook.:woohoo: This image seemed to have the best blend of Sci-Fi and "campy" fun to it. And for any of you B-movie buffs out there, yes:nod: this is a take on the poster-art from the 1954 movie "THEM!", but with a comic book twist.

I absolutely love the way this cover turned out, and was extremely fortunate to be able to work with Hector, AKA elsevilla and his amazing digital painting abilities on this piece. While he does Awesome Digital Painting Commission work, he usually doesn't work with pre-existing line-art(was super lucky he made an exception this one time). He is strictly a Digital Painter, which made the collaboration process completely different and a lot of fun testing out what worked and what direction to go in as far as interpretation of styles. He put in a ton of extra work into this and it really shows.

So on top of getting to work with a Super Talented Artist, Hector was one of the coolest and friendliest people I've ever had the pleasure of collaborating with. He had also wanted to add a comment to the description for this piece on my DeviantART page, since it will not be featured on his "elsevilla" DeviantART page, mainly to avoid any confusion with his normal commission work.

"It was an honor and pleasure to be part of the book, especially with the cover which is always like the best seat in a theater. I was constantly nervous that I might ruin the line art. When painting other people's art, its like a mine filed where you have to worry about each and every brushstroke. So thank you for taking a shot in the dark with my colors. All of that said, I had a lot of fun painting it."

Working/collaborating with the right people can make all the difference in the world.:highfive: The cover along with a few more of the interior pages, will be digitally painted like this for their final versions. I hope you all enjoy this one as well.
:icongrin--plz: The original lines-[link] and a cool detail shot of the blonde in front [link]
Finally getting the digitally painted versions done and very pleased with how they're all turning out. For the THE WALKING DEAD, 1936, Chuck Pires did an amazing job that was well worth the wait. Here's the penciled version from before, [link]
This one will actually be page two of the convention sketchbook I'm doing up called "MONSTERS MAIDENS & MAYHEM" :evillaugh:which will comprise of old Hollywood B-Movies and Monster movie posters from the 30's through the 60's. I absolutely love the artwork and poster designs that they used for those. Hopefully you guys will like my take on them as well. This one, along with a few other pages, will be digitally painted like you see here for the final versions.

Let me know what you guys think.:w00t: Go ZOMBIES and cute girls!

THE WALKING DEAD, 1936, Boris Karloff and Marguerite Churchill with lines by me and digital paints by Chuck.

Again, thanks a ton for all the kind words, Favs, Watches and the llamas. It really means a lot, so thank you.

I'll be putting the project up on kickstarter.com in the next few weeks once everything's finished. An amazing site for artists projects a buddy referred me to. So I'm putting up a sample of one of the first pages in the sketchbook. "THE WALKING DEAD -(1936) with Boris Karloff" This one, along with a few other pages, will be digitally painted for the final version. But I wanted to show the pencil versions of these before they're painted.

Talk with ya soon.

:w00t: Go Monsters and cute girls!
Just put up some Uncanny and Ultimate X-MEN pages, an FOB #2 page, plus another Zenescope pinup. Also here's the Joker and Harley Quinn character designs for the Young Justice cartoon/comic series I forgot to upload the with the rest.. Loved drawing these two, especially the Joker with his semi-creepy eyes. :mwahaha:

Would love to do up a clean(not sketchy) and colored print of these two, there just so much fun. Let me know what you guys think about that.=)
  • Mood: Optimism
Just put up some Fantastic Four pages and a cover for Zenescope's Neverland series. Enjoy.
